Reveiw: Vega One All-in-One Nutritional Shake

Disclaimer:  I was contacted by Vega and provided with the Vega One all-in-one-nutritional shake starter kit in exchange for a review.  As always, the opinions are mine.

I love my shakes, they have been my breakfast staple for at least two years now.  For me they are a great alternative because they can be done on the fly, and can provide the right essentials to start your day.   I have tried several different brands, from the multi-level marketing ones to store bought.  But I've still been looking for one that fits exactly what I feel is best for me to start my day.

When I was first approached about it, I was kind of nervous with the whole Plant Based aspect of it.  I mean I try to make smart choices but don't always succeed and admittedly right now plant based and clean have not been high on my food choice list.  I was also concerned about how it would taste.

This is where the awesomeness of the Vega One all-in-one nutritional shake starter kit comes in. In one handy kit you get a five day supply to see if you like before actually buying a tub.  Which, to me anyway, speaks highly that they want you to try the product first to see if it works for you before investing in the full fledged tub. I know I've spent money in the past on a huge tub of a new shake only to find out that it didn't work for me and ended up pitching it in the end.  With the starter kit you get two French Vanilla, two Chocolate and one Berry flavor.  So not even limited to just one flavor, which is a great touch as well.  This turned out to be a great thing for me because I surprised myself.  Currently, the Vega E-store has the #VegaOneStart kit on sale for $14.99.  A great deal.

I had heard really great things about Vega One via Twitter and was super curious about them.. Almost sounds to good to be true.  Vega One was formulated by Brendan Brazier, a professional Ironman and he's also a best selling author on Sports Nutrition.  He knows his stuff.  For more information on Vega, please check here.

Here is where the amazing starts Vega One is dairy, gluten and soy free, with no artificial colors or sweeteners. Plus no added sugar.  But, wait there's more.  One shake provides 50% of your daily intake of vitamins & Minerals.  The Vega One all-in-one nutritional shake also boasts:
1.8 cups of greens (made from spinach, alfalfa, broccoli & kale)
15 grams of protein
6 grams of fiber
1 billion probiotics (hello, probiotics!  This is the equivalent of one cup of yogurt)
1.5 grams of Omega-3
and
2.7 cups of Antioxidants.

All of that goodness is contained in 150 calories for those that pay attention to that sort of thing.  Oh, right, that would be me.

So here's the best part.  I LOVED it.  Seriously, loved it. No, really and truly,  I loved it.  So much so that after I ran out of my starter kit I did this...I bought my first tub.

But I digress, going back to my trial I started out with chocolate, because well chocolate may as well be my middle name. Surprisingly, I was not sure about it.  The next day I tried the French Vanilla, I threw in a half a banana and one cup of unsweetened almond milk.  Holy yum!  It was fab. I liked it so much I tried it again the next day.  Yep, still loved it.  The fourth day I tried the Berry flavor and really liked that one as well, which totally caught me off guard.  Then on the last day I tried the chocolate again, and liked it much better the second time around.

The flavors are great, the consistency is great, and even better there is no funky after taste.  I have had some stomach issues with previous shakes, but have had absolutely no issues with Vega One.  Thanks to my new best friend probiotics.  I could see a huge difference between how I felt on the Vega One and how I felt when I went back to old shake while waiting for my tub to get here.  Happy tummy = Happy Suzanne.  Happy Suzanne = Happy Ran family.  It's that simple really.

I like the French Vanilla the best because I can try to be creative and not have the same flavor morning after morning.  I was intimidated to try throwing in new things, but it's been fun.  My new favorite, because it's fall, and I'm all about the pumpkin. Has been a Pumpkin Spice Shake.

Mix in a half a cup of pumpkin puree

1 cup unsweetened Vanilla Almond milk

Pumpkin Pie Spice to taste.

And of course the Vega One All-in-One French Vanilla.

Absolutely amazing.  A little bit of heaven to start my morning.

If you are a shake person like me Vega One is definitely worth trying.  I highly recommend it.  I honestly, can not see me going back to my old shake at all.

What do you like to mix in your shakes to have a little variety?  Do I have any fellow morning shake drinkers?
